Greetings from Nicaragua! I am
truly amazed by the sights and sounds here.
The sun starts rising about 4 a.m., and through the open windows in the
morning you hear a relentless rooster, dogs barking, birds chirping, horns
blasting, and the occasional horse taking a rider to work. This morning, while (not so) patiently
waiting for that precious first cup of coffee before a morning walk, I started
thinking about all that we’ve experienced this week --- and it is only
Wednesday. Some of the highlights so
far include: hearing “Amazing Grace”
sung together in Spanish and English; seeing a solemn little girl in the
Nutrition Center smile after a new team member gently spoke to her in Spanish;
watching an animated story of the Creation to VBS children; having a pickup
truck pull our bus out of the mud when it got stuck on the dirt road when
crossing a river; and witnessing a lady lead her blind husband down a muddy,
rocky road to visit the clinic. Last
night we had dinner with the Alvarado family, our “Bridges of Hope”
friends. It was a wonderful evening of
laughter and fellowship. Today we went
to El Chile – a new village for our team.
The village is in a beautiful mountainous area, and we had another great
day. On to Thursday ….
Carol
